there is a program called Super DVD Ripper. That program can take VOB Files to AVI, or you can select the folder that you ripped using Shrink and you can select the whole video and rip it to AVI. If you need help using it...pm me.

PowerDVD , WinDVD will allow you to watch your ripped dvd from your HDD. Just install PowerDVD or WinDVD (both have trial versions ) , restart your pc to complete the install if necassary and open PDVD / WDVD , select your source ; the HDD you ripped the DVD to, select the DVD folder ie Hostage for example. Now select the VIDEO_TS folder and click OK. PDVD/WDVD will start playing the dvd from there.

Nero Showtime has the same option I think. I havent used any of the extra fluff Nero packed in with Nero 6.x since all I need is just the burning feature

you can actually watch it with DVD Shrink...if you have already closed DVD Shrink...just open it back up then go to button at the top of the menu "open file", select the file that the movie is in click on "ok", wait for it to analyze the movie(probably about 30-40secs), once it is done...make sure the "main movie" part is selected on the left side of the menu(it usually already is).click the "play" or arrow button on the bottom left screen and it will play the movie, and if you want full screen the just right click on the movie screen and you can select full screen

To use Mediaplayer that comes with Windows you need the codecs from WinDVD or PowerDVD. So you have to install them first even if you do not plan on using them.

Hi everyone... Another vote here for PowerDVD. It came pre-installed on my new Dell 4700. The PowerDVD works beautifully for me and I'm very impressed with it.
Happy 4th of July everyone!!

It looks spectacular on my Dell UltraSharp digital flat panel monitor. When I ordered this pc a couple months ago, I really wasn't sure what to order...but I decided to order the pc with as many optional things I could as this pc will last me for a while. So I chose a higher end graphics card and this flat panel; man, I am so happy that I did too. It is much better than what I had expected as I am still learning computers here; I am still a newbie.. Oh, I also connected the monitor via the DVI connection too, so maybe that helps a bit.
Do you have a regular crt, or the flat panel? I never used Power DVD with a crt monitor, so I don't know about how dvd's would normally display on them but perhaps somebody can jump in and lend some more expertise.
Take care nohelpme; hope this info helps a bit.. Wish I could offer more, but I'm still learning dvd burning stuff here; it's all quite new to me.

I have stuck with CRT becuase they say that the frame rates are not good with the flat panels with gaming. They say you get some ghosting with the flat screen monitors. I would love to go flat screen but if i can't game what is the point.

Oh, I see... I'm not into games, so that is a bit out of my expertise. I don't know too much about specs or resolution numbers yet, but I'm slowly learning, lol! All this video stuff is brand new to me. However I did burn some nice backups with my Plextor 716A; took me some time to learn DVDD and Shrink, but I think I have finally learned how to use them.
I used 8x Maxell +R (from Japan) and the burns were fine and showed excellent results with that Plextools test utility. Gee, I surprised myself, lol!!!
Next thing I want to learn is how to make them into a DVD Rom so they'll have a better chance to play in various dvd players. Oh well, that will be my next project....
