I used to burn dvd fine about 3 months ago, and then my dvd burner simply stopped working. The buffer level just shoots up and down. After some guidance about what is compatible, I switched my memorex dvd+r to Maxell dvd-r and just now, switched my dvd burner entirely, returning my benq ew162I for a lg gsa-5163d, but the buffer level continues to fluxuate! Whenever i connect my burner, it tells me that I am plugging a high-speed usb connection to a non-high speed hub, which used to never give me problems but now I am wondering if it is the root to the one I am having now. Is there any software, hardware, etc. to solve this problem? Is it possible to by an adapter for this.

Any advise is appreciated.
Kevin.

Is a usb 2.0 port necessary for the connection of the device? I used to burn with a non-2.0 port, and even though it was slow, it still burned. Is a new usb 2.0 manditary to fix my problem?

I read in another post you're using Memorex?? If you haven't switched yet, you really should. USB1.1 is too slow for DVD burning. It may work fine for a bit, but I guarantee it'll fail you eventually.

This is a link for a PCI USB2.0 card, it's only $20. That and some good media should solve your issues.
