I'm trying to copy a backed up movie to my computer. When i use dvd shrink to analize it, it comes up cyclic redundancy check. I have seen this error before when backing up dvds and could just then use dvd decoder and it would take care of problem. But even dvd decoder will not copy the disk to my computer.

hi

sounds like dirty disc / greasy fingers / scratched ?

try a clean then try again, set DVD Decrypter to aggressive! try iso read and file mode!

even try copy and paste by right clicking on the files from my computer!

but it could also be cheap media thats degraded over a few months which is basically making the discs a coaster!

Nothing here to see, move along folks.

A previously backed movie should have no protection. Therefore it should not require a 'ripper', a standard copy program should handle it. The error is most likely dirty, damaged or poor quality media. Try to clean the disk and try to copy again. The disk may play in a standalone DVD player but still be unreadable to your PC drive. The standalones have ability to handle errors by skipping over them wereas the PC readers/programs 'choke'. Your could try DVD Decrypter as in addition to its ability to decrypt (not neede in this case) it has capability to allow many retries on read errors.

also set it to not retry just skip errors!

also i did hear of someone opening the tray and closing it for it to carry on ripping!

Nothing here to see, move along folks.
