IDE driver conflicts and emulation software are often the cause of this error. Get rid of InCD if you have that installed. It's a problem maker. Do you have any other DVD authoring software installed like Roxio? If so, uninstall. Did you install any IDE driver software with your burner? I'd stick with the generic Windows drivers in any case. Have you tried outputing an iso image file and burning that with DVD Decrypter? Can you burn with the Nero Burning ROM program? Have you tried using DVD Shrink to make your backup and then burning with DVD Decrypter instead of NeroVision Express?

- uninstall Nero, then uninstall Nero completely with Nero's Clean Tools (do a google search for 'Nero Clean Tools'), then install Nero WITHOUT installing InCD - this is packet writing software and interferes with other parts of Nero

now that is strange (plus i preume you have 2 sticks of 256MB) - as PC's are very finicky about memory, if it don't like a stick it won't boot and will beep madly usually. All i can think of is you got more than 2 sockets to put the sticks into and one socket isn't working, but that's a wild made up guess as i somehoe don't think would work either!

Creaky, nicely said bro. I couldn't think of any better things to add to the thread.

@GerryD,

I suggest you listen to Mr. Creaky - he's one of the most experienced and knowledgeable members at "afterdawn.com", and yes... you can count on me on that. I've been a member since April and I've seen Creaky has helped out tons and tons of newbies resolved their issues easily. I would recommend you to do as told by him. Here is the link to download Nero's General Clean Tool http://ww2.nero.com/enu/Clean_Tools.html - in order to get rid of "InCD and all of Nero's stuff" you definitely need this to run first, then "reinstall" Nero [only Nero] back to your computer. Restart your computer and try to see what's the result now. Keep in mind to use good quality medias such as TY/FUJI, Verbatim, MAXELL and SONY(make sure it says"MADE IN JAPAN").

Just a friendly reminder that's all.

@alkohol - cheers for the kind words, in truth i don't know how many ppl find my posts helpful as the majority of original posters never post again after their initial posts, i probably scare them off lol. I have noticed quite a few of your posts, they are very helpful and detailed also. I've only been here since January myself, i try to blitz thru a few posts each night after work to wind down.

hi

just jumping in quick here but i would say its discs used +R being put to dvdrom booktype

also as creaky says if you have more ram slots it goes like this with 4 say place in slot 1 and 3 not side by side

although i have a 3 slot and this needs side by side

also look at bios to check an settings! also swap the ram round to see if you have a dead stick!

Nothing here to see, move along folks.

hi

if you have avi i would drop them in divxtodvd and it outputs vob/ifo/bup for burning it will join 2 files to 1 film and its a free app, quite good!

then use nero for burning only, on add-video tab!

also try running the avi through DIVFIX to check for errors, another free app!

but to be honest follow creaky on this for nero, get rid of incd too!

Nothing here to see, move along folks.

I was kind of pondering on the media you're using in the first place, and now I see why you're getting coasters -- it's because of Memorex. Please re-read my first post. Here it is....

Creaky, nicely said bro. I couldn't think of any better things to add to the thread.

@GerryD,

It saddens me that you didn't choose to back up with good quality medias. Well, that's a lesson #1 to learn in pertains to backing up movies. Whatever you do, next time, just stay away from "Memorex aka CMC" and you won't have to worry about these kind of coasters in the future. Again, I would highly recommend you to get TY aka FUJI, Verbatim, Maxell and SONY (make sure it's a DVD+R and it says "MADE IN JAPAN"). However, the choice is yours to make, either expecting more "coasters" down the road or "successfully" backed up. Best of lucks to you.

ah, that's not a known brand name!. that'll explain it. I personally only recommend Verbatim datalifeplus, top notch media at no more cost than 'utter rubbish' media. ps i'm not disagreeing with alkohol's media recommendations, my lowly budget dictates i find something top notch and stick with it.

ps you still need to edit out the serial numbers as they'll have been stolen by now...

@creaky,

Nice seeing you at this time bro. Yep.... I'm with you on this -- it's definitely the unknown media that's giving him coaster. That's why we didn't see any media manufacture id code when GerryD posted the Nero Log earlier.

Hahahas... lol..:) creaky, I think this is the 3rd times in a row that you told him to edit his Nero serial.

yeah, i been at work 2hours (7am start for me, here in UK). It gets tricky replying to threads as my workplace monitors every webpage click and every click counts as a minute of surfing!. Therefore when i reply to like 30 posts a day (and nearly every post i write has at least one or two edits), i keep getting in strife as they think i'm surfing all day. In fact i'm doing my job AND blitzing thru posts - the posts take zero time to reply to. ARGH!.

Just mentioning the serial cus it will be stolen, or most likely has been by now. I personally feel that Nero should not put the serial in logfile by default, and if it's needed people can always quote it by fone or something if they raise calls with Nero..

creaky,

Yeah... I definitely agree with you on the serial thingy that Nero should not put it in the log. Especially, for newbies, whom happened to either forgot about it (the serial) or did not recognize that it was in the log when posted it.

I'm at home now, damn... I can feel it, I'm starting to get addicted to this forum, hahahas...lol. Well, I did navigated this site at work too, but not as long as when I'm at home though. I feel ya man... especially at work. Well, you have a good day now. Seems like I'm getting tired, need to get some sleeps or I'll be too lazy to get up for work tomorrow.
