I have a DVD that I have been trying to convert to AVI for some time without success.
I have used "Kingdia DVD Ripper 2.4.0", which crashed with a "MPEG2Dec: Error during reading input file" about a 1,000 frames into the movie. I have tried a number of times. I get the same error in the same place.
I have tried "Magic DVD Ripper 3.2a", which rips the movie fine, but many scenes (spread throughout the movie) are missing. In fact the AVI length (0:44:30) is about half the length (1:17:00) of the original movie. I've tried this twice now.
At the moment I am considering trying "A1 DVD Ripper", but it looks just like Kingdia. Right down to the interface and help files.
By the way, I am pretty sure that the DVD is not corrupted, because I have played it all the way through on my DVD player and my PC (Windows Media Player).
If anyone can suggest anything that I am doing wrong, or suggest another program I can try, please do.

ImTOO DVD Ripper gives me the exact same error as Kingdia DVD Ripper, at the same place.
Is there any program to analyze and/or fix a DVD? (Assuming I convert it to an ISO file)

Is the DVD copy protected? If so, you may need first to rip with Decrypter, before using Kingdia or ImToo to rip to AVI.

scf_au I tried your way. I used DVD Decrypter and ripped the file to my hard drive (although it said it couldn't detect any copyright protection). It's still not working. I noticed in the log file of DVD Decrypter that it said "Detect Mastering Errors: No". I don't know how to turn that on, would it make any difference?

sand33 I'll try your way and see if it works for me.

I just tried WinAVI converter. It does the same thing that Magic DVD Ripper is doing. Plus I cannot seem to get the sound to work...

In that case, I'll say you probably have a really tough DVD, or a corrupted one. If it is not copy protected, then maybe you could try use some programs that could fix errors (e.g. Isobuster) to copy it to harddisk first.
Good luck!

You may try AoA DVD Ripper. There is a detailed guide.

How can I get an individual scene from a DVD in to a format that I can use to make a new DVD? I have extracted the video from the original source, can play it from Windows Media Player, but need to get a scene for a school project. I have Adobe Premiere on my PC, and also have a Mac in the house with iMovie, iDVD, etc. Sorry if this is the wrong forum, this is my first post.
