ffdshow messing up my audio?

I need ffdshow to brighten windows media player but everytime I install it it makes my audio not work. What can I do to solve this?

What other codes do you have installed. I have never had any problems with FFDShow but I believe that competing codecs of lesser quality can cause a conflict.
