If it is + media made in Japan it is most probably made by Taiyo Yuden Excellent media. If it is made in Taiwan dash media is is prabably made by Prodisc so-so media,

@rihgt682: When it comes to media found in the local stores (Fuji, Maxell, Sony, TDK) you will probably be better off sticking to +R with the exception of Verbatim. It is excellent in both formats. I mostly use Taiyo Yuden from SuperMediaStore.com.
