gattstzu,
Welcome and the guides are below. Look for VCD and SVCD and there are plenty of guides for you to look at

Hi there,

If your new DVD player supports DivX, I assume just burning the .AVI files as "DATA" should work.

Make a DATA-DVD and put your .AVI files on them.
Read your owners manual, they might tell you if there's something special you need to do for your player to recognise the DivX files.

They is DivX and there is Xvid as formats (Codec), does yours play both ?

Again, your owners manual might tell you !

Now if you only have CD-R Media, like mentioned, you might have to convert them to VCD/SVCD format.

The idea of the divx player was that i dont have to convert to mpeg/vcd.

so i cant burn data on a cd-r? the player plays xvid divx, all files basically.
Im sure there shouldnt be any difference between a dvd data disk and cd-r data disk - just more room.
surely i can burn an avi file onto a cd-r and it play perfectly? thats my question.
Also, how do i add subtitles to an avi file for burning?
thnx

That is not a question, that's a statement !

You already asked it as a question and you were given an answer.
If you don't like it, FINE ~ Burn your AVI since you know so well it will work, don't come looking for a validation of your statements.

When you ask for help, don't come back at those pple helping you and contradict them.

Another note: Your manners have a long way to go ~ learn to better interact with pple if you expect anyone to help you at all. Gratitude and a little servility goes a long way.
