copying VHS to DVD

I am trying to back my VHS collection to DVD but some of the VHS tapes are three hour movies I am using Mercury TV & Video capture card to copy videos to my hard drive but after copying I can't compress them to fit on to a 4.7 gig 120 min.DVD R are there any programmes available that can do this.I have tried DVD shrink but it comes up with an error message dvd shrink has encountered an error & cannot open this file. Hopint someone can help

When you capture your VHS to your hard drive what type of video file do you have?

the file type comes up as Iv01

Hmmm cant say I know what that file is? Is it a compressed file you can extract to your hard drive? What does it do when you double click on it?

this file is not compressed as far as I know when I double click on it it plays in media player 10 does this help you

Try running that file through DivXtoDVD and then you can run those files threw DVD Shrink to compress..

No problem glad to see you have it working. If you need there is a guide at my website (link in sig) that shows you exactly how to convert from AVI to DVD you can print out so you have it for the next time you need to do this. :-)
