I'm going to be backing up my Star Wars Trilogy. I have a question. I have a 4.5 gig dvd burner, so no dual layer support. I want to have FULL QUALITY on my copied version.

On Dvd Shrink, the file size of the movie(title) shows up as 6952 MB. So, "shrinking" it gets me down to 60% quality, removing some other language tracks.

60% doesn't really sound too good. I was wondering, do you suggest I use another software entirely??? I heard some good things about Dvd Decrypter, and Nero Recode. Or is DVD Shrink better??? Also, do you suggest I analyze the DVD? In that case, would you suggest I put the setting to Max Soft, Soft, Sharp, or Max Sharp.

Thanks.

If you want the best quality you can get then use DVD Rebuilder with Cinema Craft Encoder. This is the thread to begin reading

You can use Shrink and yes use Deep Analysis with Max Sharp quality enhancements. This is the best route to go. I used this to backup my boxed set, they came out pretty good, but I recently redid them to dual layer.

Yeah. I was looking into the CCE thing. I like it. Now, do I necessarily need to use it with DVD RB???

what's the difference in dual layer?

And also, how did you get the Alien subtitles to show? I have them ripped, but i cannot get the subtitles to work.

dual layer is basicly 2 dvds in oe

a single layer being 4 gigs. as apposed to dual being 8

the aleian subtitles are encoder issue. i solved this on my own useing XviD codec and a progra vidomi. in the options menus are the 'enable subtitles'. you will aso need to enable them inside the player.
