Samsung Up-Conversion DVD Player

I am thinking about getting a Samsung DVD Player that will play original DVD movies to HD quality. Does anyone know if this will work for DVD-R's as well?

the video quality depends on the programs used to compress and burn. If you're worried about video quality and don't mind spending a few bucks, check out DVD Rebuilder and CCE. Costs about $60 but it's the best method out there for backing up dvd.
