I made a back-up copy of Independence Day using DVD X-copy Platinum version 4.0.3. The copy will play on the DVD player on top of the TV but the DVD-rom in my computer does not recognize it. My DVD-RW drive does not recognize the copy either. How can I fix this problem so this won't happen again?

Don't use X Copy to make copies. This is the program's way of not allowing you to make backups. Use a different backup program.

Also make sure you are using quality media like TY & Verbatim.
Make sure your burn speed is not at max - from what I remember you can't lower the burn speed with XCopy. Use Shrink and Decrypter instead - much better (free) and gives you more options plus Decrypter handles the latest copy protections.
Make sure your firmware is up to date on your drive.

I tried using DVD Shrink and the directers comentary about the movie ends up on the back-up copy. DVD copy fixes that problem. Is there a way DVD Shrink can fix the comentary?

After Shrink does its initial analysis, you can get rid of any unwanted audio tracks. Sometimes, however, it doesn't tell you which one is the commentary. I think you may be able to preview the movie with specific audio tracks. If this is possible, try it.
