Im trying to convert my movies to VCD but when i use virtual dub to make an audio file and i load the movie it gives me the error:
Could someone tell me what it means? this is the only thing im missing. is to get the audio from my avi file to conver to VCD

The Error message Means exactly what it says...I don"t know how to explain it any better accept to repeat the Error message to you even More Plain English ...

You need to install the xvid codec!!!

yeah, i'm having the same problem.

i'm attempting to put together a set of the 2005 Tour de France, the first three stages needed the XviD codec, which i knew about and had, but still didn't work (would not allow me to watch the video, i could hear sound?). eventually i found FFDShow and i was able to begin watching and hearing the stages, however now as i attempt to connect the .avis together, i get the same message (yet 'XVID' is 'xvid'--mean anything?) as the thread started received. i know i have codecs for XviD, has anyone else seen a problem like this? thanks for any help you can send my way!
