I have a scratch on one of my movies, so I am looking for a program or a solvent of some sort to fix this problem so I can back it up and keep the original from scratching. Thanks in advance to any suggetions

they sell those disc doctors that buff out scratches (or try to). DVD Decrypter can be set up to try really hard to rip scratched discs. Check ScubaPete's guide (link is in my sig) for info on how to do that.

I have tried most household fluids as experiments to solve this problem, all with only moderate success. Toothpaste (last resort), car polish (non-abrasive type) and pledge actually helped but only slightly.
Bizarre as it may seem, I actually had moderate success with a product sold in motorcycle shops called Suzuki Perfomance Detailer, it gives a painted surface a truly glass-like finish so I tried it on a new DVD that came out of the box deeply scratched (couldn't return it-lost receipt) and it actually salvaged a full chapter that was previously unreadable!
But the best success I've had has been with a commercial CD/DVD scratch repair tool from Best Buy.
