My plextor was purchased in January and I know how media is slow to keep up with hardware changes. So I sort of just "forgot" about it. A few weeks ago I decided to check for some 8X RW media, see if it was on the market yet.
Google brought up
Sony 10-Pack 8x DVD+RW Discs with Jewel Cases
Model: 10DPW47L2 at Best Buy.
I went down there and the box says only 4X on it. part number was exact and I showed the sales guy the webpage in the store and compared. He said it must be a mistake. Yet they would not let me find out on one of their store demo burners. I have to buy it, bring home and test etc. Big hassle if it fails for sure and false advertising to boot.

I checked for this part number on the net and sure enough, the other sites list it at 4X.

I email Bestbuy and alert them to their mistake. They reply with a thankyou and say they will update the information.

Today I check and it's still the same. So I need to find out what the real story is from anyone in the forum with info. Please.

Thank You
.

Cheers,

Sleepy

4x media will one day dissapear, as will 8x but probably not in the near future. There are gobs of 8x media. Take a hint; use Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden discs. Try http://www.pricewatch.com

Sorry, new glasses, really. I checked my trusted source http://www.meritline.com/4x-dvd-plus-rw.html and there appear to be none.

I suppose I'll get the ones best buy "Claims" to be 8X RW knowing they aren't then raise a stink for false advertising.

I warned them 3 weeks ago their add was incorrect and was told it would be fixed. I have email proof as well. Idiots.

Sleepy
