IFO - While the main content of DVD-Video disc are the VOB files which contain the actual MPEG-2 audio, video and subtitle streams, the IFO files provide information for DVD player where DVD-Video disc's chapters start, where certain audio tracks are located, etc..
VOB - Actual movie files. Video & Audio
BUP - Backup file
So for most programs out there you will need the IFO and VOB files to be able to create a playable DVD. Some require all the files, and a few will open just the VOB files. Mostly though you are safe with just the Main Movie and IFO's. What this will do is copy only the main movie to the hard drive so you wont have any of the extras or menus and if that is the type of DVD you are planning on making then it will just save you some time instead of ripping the whole DVD.
As to your first question the best way to do what you want is to download VobBlanker and use that to get rid of what you dont want or you can just use Shrink and make the Previews still pictures, this would almost be the same as taking them out but it would be a little easier if your not familiar with DVD structure and using some other proggys.

Hi bbmayo,
I don't have VobBlanker but use DVDRemake all the time. Do you prefer VobBlanker over DVDRemake? Thanks.

I only prefer VobBlanker because its free and I am a little more familiar with it. Though I will have to say I am not a pro with either one to tell the truth ;-) I know enough to get by, but I don't really have a need for them to much so I don't mess with them enough.
Are you pretty good with DVD Remake Mort? If you are and want to share a guide or something I would be more than glad to post it on my website if you want. The VobBlanker one on my site is by Sadsac.
Cheers

I'm pretty efficient as far as what I need to do with it. It's capable of doing a lot more than what I use it for but it does what I want done and I'm not really concerned or interested in the other features or benefits of the proggy. Any guide made by me would be far to basic and not give the program the respect it deserves. Brobear or sophicles would do a much better job.
I do use it for almost every backup I make to remove previews, trailers, warning screens, and adverts leaving a functional menu, the movie, bloopers, deleted/extended scenes, and the making of if I so choose leaving me with a polished and trimmed folder usually between 6500 and 7000 mb ready to be run through DVD-RB/CCE.

Yeah thats basically the same thing I have donr with VobBlanker, and I don't know if you noticed or not but all my guides are basic and geared towards the newbies. So if you feel like throwin a guide on your steps it would be no problem...
