Has anyone noticed how hard it is to find instructions for swap magic, or any other mod for that matter? The only place I find decent ones are on forums, and they always explain just one aspect. Just recently I found a post talking about the TOC. What the hell is the TOC all of a sudden!? Haha, I have a basic understanding of it, but I can't get it, or anything else to behave the way it's supposed to.

Anyone at all out there know how to work Swap Magic to boot Hard Drives?
I have a Maxtor DiamondMax 10 200GB in a USB enclosure.

You can go to www.exploitstation.com and that will give you tutorials and forums with people who know all about that stuff.

Guess I forgot to mention, I have the new slim ps2. Exploits don't work with it. That's the other thing about looking for tutorials, they never specify that the process won't work with certain versions, so I'll read for a few hours, take notes, maybe do a few downloads, and then whammo: This procedure does not work with slim ps2's.

Well that changes everything. I've heard very little about the slimline ps2 being able to exploit... i'd just suggest doing the whole swap magic deal. it's cheap and easy... plus it works way better than the exploit.

My problem was mostly installing the Switch Kit. Tool C was always giving me the hardest time; I had no problems with A or B. I figured it out, after mangling the crap out of the tool. I don't have any backup cd's to test it with, but I can run a real PS2 cd through swap magic, which is more than it did before. It also runs with the lid open, which is the main purpose of the Switch Kit, so I assume it worked. Now to figure out how to make SM read from my USB hard drive...

No, haha, I think I've got that figured out, I just haven't gone out to get any media yet. I have the cheap 50 cent discs that they tell you not to use. Besides, like I said, I'd rather figure out how to use the USB hard drive; if I'm going to back up my disks, I may as well back it up onto a source that's more reliable than what it's already on. (easier on the laser too, I'd imagine.) ;)
