test the fan when it's not in the ps2 w/ a 9volt battery, and make sure it's the fan that crapped out.

The fan isn't always the issue,it can come from the motherboard. There is a possibility it could be the fan,but most of the time it is a short somewhere on the board causing no power to reach the fan. There have been ways of getting around this by soldering the wires for the fan to a V5 point on the motherboard, but the problem really isn't fixed. All you would be doing is leaving the area that has no power, and soldering the fan wires to an area with power. It is best to fix the problem instead of leaving it though, just a personal opinion.Hey Jdilla look at the fuse number on your motherboard bro.It is normally a long line of numbers, they are different for each fuse. The best way to determine which fuse is the problem is by using a multi-meter,and measuring the voltage of each fuse on the motherboard. Each fuse should give you a different measure, when you find a chip that gives a bad reading that will give you an answer. That is the best way to determine which fuse is blown on the motherboard.
