Welcome to AD!
I would recommend DVD Decrypter. Read and write in iso Mode.
Since shrink doesn't handle dl this probably should have been posted in the DVD -+R for Newbies.

dvd decrypter

Click Mode/ISO Read and rip the original disc.
Then click Mode/ISO Write, find the MDS file (default location is on C:\ directory) and burn.

Pick the MDS file instead of the ISO because it contains information about the layer break and stuff. Also, when in ISO Write mode there is an icon on the bottom right for Booktyping media. If you can do this, booktype it to DVD-ROM, it increases compatibility with dvd players. Only certain burners can do it, it will tell you if you can't.

I left out the one key piece for dl - the MDS file. Glad you posted that!

Good info squizzle. I didn't know that the .mds held extra info. I've been too cheap to do any DLs but the prices are coming down so maybe I'll get some.

I'm still gonna wait on the DL (not to mention the DL burner). Why ruin a good thing? I got my good media, reliable burner and CCE, can't beat it!

I bought one of the first Sony DL burner in the states. I had pre ordered the thing long before they went into distribution. I paid over $200.00 for it. What are they now, like $50 or $60? The first burners came out a couple of months before Verbatim came out with the first DL media. I suffered sticker shock when I saw what they were asking, wasn't it like $9.00 a disc? I still haven't gotten over it. Single layer with a bit of compression works just fine for me!

one answer and probably the best answer; Nero RECODE2.

Nero Recode2 or Shrink using deep analysis and AEC/ fabdecrypter or anydvd running in the background/ IMGBurn to burn/main movie only mode= perfect.

MDS is for ISO files. If you have VOB, IFO, and BUP files, just burn them as DVD-Video files using Nero or any other burning software. If you really want to get this into ISO format, there's a program called Folder2ISO (never used it) or you could run the files through DVD Shrink (don't have to compress if you don't want to) and tell Shrink to make an ISO with the output, or make the ISO and burn with DVD Decrypter.

How much are DL discs nowadays? DVD-R DL, good quality like Verbatim.

Fanboy is a term used to describe someone who is utterly devoted to a single subject. This generally is followed by the devotion and support even when proved wrong.

Anecdotal, by my definition, it's the way too many people here think. It's also all the evidence you have.

Xbox 360 GT: NEGATIVE 273K

My advice: Wait for PS3.

My big secret for finding media prices is to just do a Google search for "DVD Media". I think it's around $3.00 a disc but that is just a guess.

I am only finding Verbatim Discs at $5. That sucks, I will continue to put just the movie (title 1, nothing else) on a 4.7GB. Most of the time it goes on uncompressed once you pull off everything but the surround sound english and movie.

I'm going to continue doing the same. I get stuff like this which is quite a bit cheaper than $5.00/disc.

$36.00 for 100 after rebate.

True that. Mail-in? I just wait for a sale at Best Buy, then buy a ton of them.
