I wanted to provide some instructions to people who are unaware with unlocking Nokia 6230b GSM phones locked by Cingular USA:
1) You need to have a cingular sim card in the phone.
2) Then all you need to do is enter the code (try 7th first).
3) if the code works then at the end of entry, the phone screen will say "Phone restrictions off".
To access "p" just press "*" three times within one second. To access "w" press "*" four times within one second. To access button "+" you have to press twice "*" within less than a second.

Thanks, It said it cannot undo the restriction though, but I think the person who was using my phone a couple months ago, might have tried to unlock it already, so it might be permanetly locked. I heard you can use some cord or something. Where do I go to get that kind of stuff done?

Any one of the 7 codes codes will probably unlock your phone but I normally use Code 7 first, if that does not work then code 1 and on the rare occasion they both fail I try code 5.
Now enter code 7 into your phone with NO sim card in!
To access "p" just press "*" three times within one second. To access "w" press "*" four times within one second.
To access button "+" you have to press twice "*" within less than a second.
If successful you will see the message 'Phone restriction off' (if not you will get a 'code error' message).
DO NOT TRY IT MORE THAN 3 TIMES
you are allowed 5 free attempts to unlock the phone, if all 3 dont work then do not try any of the others, sorry but i cannot unlock it and you will need to take it to a shop for a cable unlock

Hi guys
Any chance you could help me unlock my Nokia 6230 from Orange (UK) so that my wife can use my phone with her vodafone sim please?
My IMEI code is: 353768004740481
I understand I enter the code with no sim card in, is that right?
Never mind, I found the code and unlocked it myself :)

This is a great thread, and anyone who needs a nokia unlock code, feel free to message me with your IMEI and I can get you one.
I do have a question, however:
I have successfully unlocked a nokia 6010 and a 6820. They now read Cingular's SIM cards fine, but for some reason they won't pick up a signal! I've tried the manual network selection in the menu, but it won't even pick up Cingular's network. I'm sure there is some other network setting that needs changed that is probably hidden, but does anyone know how to change it?

Hi all, i have a Nokia 6230 and i enter the codes without the SIM card in and nothing happens no error message or anything...i have unlocked phones before but hopefully u guys can help me with this one...

What does "can Not Undo Restriction" Mean, thats what im now getting when i putt those codes in on my 6230 phone.
That or i will have to take it to a shop and they will have to unlock it with a cable etc etc. :(
