It really all depends on the version of your Ps2, versions under 4 i think it is don't read DVD+R and will ONLY read DVD-R, a modchip almost always has a susses rate of 99% were as Swap Magic is around 80% due to the fact it can't boot DVD9 games such as GT4 & GoW. Some DVD9 games can be rebuilt to work with Swap Maigc but it can be difficult.

Only down side to a modchip is you have to open the Ps2 and Sony Won't touch it will a barge pole after that. After reading the specs of the DMS4 EZI i may just get one ;)
