Still can't adjust my burn speed. There is NO WAY to do it in Nero or any other software I own, period. I use DVD Shrink so I need to set it once and have it be the default burn speed for all applications. Right now it always does max for media. HELP! It shouldn't be so hard to regulate my drive speed :( I'm tired of making coasters.

And about the Jacket...anyone have problems backing this up? It seemed to work fine, I went to play it and when it got about 45 seconds into chapter 2 the DVD player automatically bumped it back to the beginning of the disk.

I am always able to adjust my burn speeds in the Nero apps I use. It always defaults to max and I just click on the one I want. The speeds listed depend on what the disc and your burner will support. As for Shrink it will default to the last burn speed used unlike Nero. The burn speed is regulated by the app used based on what your drive and media support.
I backed up The jacket with AnyDVD and Recode - plays fine. Does it also do this in your PC?

one thing to do is make sure to put the disc in BEFORE clicking on burn, otherwise Nero will default to Max. I was gonna say it might be downrev firmware but i recognised your username and have helped you out with Nero before -

Did you definitely update the firmware AND switch to decent disks since the thread above ??

Absolutely! updated firmware and just got some Verbatim discs. I'm going to tinker with it again, the problem is that through DVD Shrink I can't change the speed, and as you know it's an automatic burn process from Shrink to nero...in other words, I'm not sure if you guys have it set up this way (seems like you would just because it's fastest) but I have it set to encode and burn all in one...I actually never even see nero, looks like shrink burns using nero.

EDIT...Okay, I've tried to set it BEFORE the burn, we'll see what happens.
PS: Burnign at fast speeds is BAAAAAAD for me...make a lot of coasters that way...is does reading the disc fast have any effect?

Reading fast should pose no problem, if there any you would get notified of read errors. I agree that the burn is best a slower speeds (2-2.4X). Remember your DVD movie watching is a 1X read.
