Unlock codes for dvd players is not a new thing. Some can be unlocked and some can't. That link claims it does them all and I doubt that. It should work on a NTSC player if yours is one of the ones that can be unlocked. I see no reason for this unless you travel with your dvd player or have access to many different region dvds. Even if you hack your NTSC player for the region code, it may not play PAL dvds which you will find in the other regions. Changing the region code to 0 won't change the video format(NTSC or PAL}.

@yodaddi,

If the price is right and you feel the need to do so, then go ahead and try it. However, if one of your stand alone dvd player is Sony, Samsung, JVC, Philips, Pioneer, APEX, Cyberhome, etc. then I suggest you to pay a visit at http://www.vcdhelp.com and just type in your dvd player's brand, model and see if there's a hack code for it. If there is one, then you're lucky and don't need to bother with that "ebay" stuff. I was able to hack my Philips, my brother's SONY and JVC easily by searching for the models and brands at that site. They all played movies flawlessly, of course it's "region free" now.

Again, you still need to check with your TV to make sure that it support both NTSC and PAL format, even though your DVD Player can play both formats and even if it's "region free". Don't worry too much though, if your dvd player can "automatically" convert either PAL to NTSC or the other way around, or if it has an option of setting either formats inside the "video settings" i.e. PAL, NTSC or AUTO on your dvd player, then you should be all set to go.

In the end, it's always better to try it, then never and not knowing at all.

WARNING: Do not "update/upgrade" your SAMSUNG BD-D5XXX series (Bluray Player), or else you cant enjoy any of your movie files.
