ok im burning using the decriptor/shrink combo and using memorex dvd+r's most of them work fine but about 1 in 3 will play for about 10 sec then pause for 5 or so then start playing and pausing and so on. What am i doing wrong ?
I had that problem happen and i slowed the burn speed down and didnt have it again. Not sure if that will work cause i have many of my own problems but might be an idea.
Are those playback issues while you view them on your pc with the drive that burned it, or on a stand alone player?
If it's a stand alone player only,try running a laser lens cleaning disc.
If it's while you view them on your pc and/or on your stand alone player after the lens cleaning,then probably media quality.
Memorex are not highly recommended. They do use some crappy manufacturers like cmagnetics for the majority of their media.They do have a few good manufacturers,but very hard to tell if you got the good ones until you open up that spindle. Their manufacturers change when you change to different spindles/packs/ and quantity sizes.The poorer manufacturers also have a shorter life span.
If the same issues arrise after the lens cleaning,the next thing to do is switch to a quality media just to rule out that possibility. The plus media is what I mainly use. Verbatim data life plus +8x, Maxell +8x= that are made in japan by hitachi,taiyo yuden, and sony +1x-8x= made in japan by Taiyo yuden are all very good.I still burn these at 4x max.
Just a few things to check first because there is many things that can cause playback issues like: compression,software,multitasking,fragmented hard drive,and etc.
