I hate to butt in, but I was wondering what is MCC and is Verbatum the only media that used this code. Is this MCC thing located on the package somewhere. I am new to this site and I have been using Memorex DVD+R without any problems. The copies that I've made play in everything except the DVD player in my truck, could this be the media or the DVD player in the truck. I have read a bit of stuff on this site, but there is a lot of stuff. Tell me more about MCC Thanks

MCC is the manufacturer for MOST of Verbatim's media nowadays~ Verbatim USED to use a few other manufacturers, but, now MCC is most apparant for Verbatims~

MCC stands for Mitsubishi Chemicals Corp., the mother company of Verbatim, MCC quality of media is VERY good~ i use MCC003 personally which are the Verbatim 8x DVD+R format~ :)

the "MCC" is NOT located on the package anywhere, this can be found by using a software program such as dvdinfo or dvdidentifyer or DVD Decrypter or Nero info, etc...once u get home to "test" out the disc...you will not see the media ID on any of the packaging, it's just through trial and error MANY of us have found what we are looking for and expressed our finds and opinions on this site to lead others to finding the "hidden gems" among all the media out there.

regarding your question about the memorex you have been using, i would STRONGLY suggest you change brands...why it won't play in your truck dvd player could be one of 2 things: 1. it doesn't like memorex media (most likely the media ID coding is: CMC MAG (which SUCKS by the way, one of THE most hated manufacturers in the media world) or 2: your dvd player is fairly old and the DVD+R format you are using is not compatible with your dvd player, BUT, if you are using DVD+R format, you have the option to booktype it to dvd-rom which SHOULD make it work~ this is ONLY if your burner allows this option~ )

anyways, i personally avoid memorex at ALL COSTS, i have memorex media that has degraded to "unplayable" within a short 3 months time~ i would suggest either the Verbatims everyone has found deals for here in this thread OR Taiyo Yuden media~ :)

good luck~

@wrf01a - in addition to kivory666's comments about Memorex, pls see 2nd link in my signature and see what i've pasted next to the link

..Memorex/CMC - don't let them near your Burner.....
. As for MCC, i've copy/pasted something for ya -

MCC are top quality manufacturers. MCC (Mitsubishi Chemicals Corporation) is the parent company of MKM (Mitsubishi Kagaku Media), which in turn is the parent company of Verbatim.
- buy Verbatim datalifeplus - you won't regret it. i've just had another 150 turn up, they're excellent

I really appreciate the help and I will take your advice. I will stop shopping at Wal-Mart for media.
Just one more question. Where am I more likely to get good media (Verbatim)? I live in Abilene Texas so shopping is limited, but we have Best Buy, Circuit City and thats about it. Again Thank you.
