PS2 v1.0 Making Noises w/ Flip Top

I just got a flip top for my version 1 ps2. Right when i tried booting a original ps2 game, its starts making this loud clicking noises. But when i take out the white magnetic piece and place it on top of the disc manually, the game boots just fine with no noises. Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be?

screws on the bottom of the ps2 are too tight.

that was my problem on my v9
