Sorry,i meant to say supermediastore. Was just wondering,i hear alot of good things about their site,but i've never heard anybody say much about the media.They seem to be very cheap,but i wonder how good the quality is before i buy any.should i spend a little more and get verbatim,or taiyo?thanks.
btw,i've been using 8x sony dvd-r from best buy,and i havent made a coaster yet.

I got some of there x8 white inkjet printable to the hub just to see what they were and they were CMC Mags.. YUK!!! I use them to back up crap for my kids because they will ruin them anyway and they actually play alright I just don't trust CMC Mag. I actually called Supermedia store and asked who made there disks and they said they werent sure? yeah right they just didn't want to say...

Hey I also took a chance on some Prodisc x8 White Inkjet printables and those have a manufacturer code of MMC Very good :-)Worth it if you are looking to save a little money. Dont get the silver inkjet ones though they are CMC!! I got both those disks right here I will put up a picture showing manufacture code as soon as I'm done burning this movie I have in there right now.. :-)

A friend of mine bought some silver top supermedia brand - they id'd out as Vanguard. The reviews are not good. I'd stick with the Verbatim Datalife and TY's.

They will say datalife and datalifeplus right on the label. Most verbatim's are good except for the 2x which has been known to id as being manufactured by CMC - the worst one.

@pholmes

you will be a very SMALL minority if you can find ANY Verbatims made in japan, they are like 90% made in TAIWAN now, with a few older stock manufacturered in singapore~ :) don't need to sweat the MADE IN JAPAN and MADE IN TAIWAN thing when it comes to Verbatims, just find the cakebox with the least amount of damage on the outside, i'm betting all the stock you find locally will be MADE IN TAIWAN~ :)

re the Verb's (datalifeplus obviously) - as i mentioned in another thread, i just bout 125 or so 8x -R's from my usually supplied (in UK) and they're all made in India so will be older stock - no worries as i've used loads of the Indian ones before with no problems. But as Kivory666 says, most newer stuff are from Taiwan now

With the prices as they are for Verbs in the US, there is no need to gamble on "bargain" media. It's a crapshoot... Get the Verbs and be assured of quality!!! I love TY as well, but with the prices that NewEgg has on Verbs, it's a no-brainer!!! I'll still keep 50 - 100 TY's on hand, though... LOL
