I have been using my DVD X COPY GOLD for a few years with no problem. Recently I was asked to activate it and cannot do this due to 321 Studios being out of business. Is there any way that I can get an activation number to enter after I enter the other information that they ask for?
Is there another program out there that will let me copy DVD Movies, etc.?
Thanks You

there are free programs such as DVD Shrink & DVD Decrypter. Shrink is no longer updated as author has gone to work for Nero, Decrypter has been closed down by one of those greedy companies out there. However both are fantastic programs (i still use both heavily) and they can be downloaded from software section at top of page. guides for them can be found at top of page also, in guides section..

You'll have to fill out a support ticket. But no promises it will help:

I followed Flips lead on this a few months ago. I was "re-activated" in a few hours. They were very helpful over the phone too!

I am suprised anyone even uses dvd copy at all. The picture quality on it is horrible compared to shrink. Plus shrink is not even the best dvdrebuilder is the best I have seen. Just much harder to use.

some people feel the quality is actually better than Shrink. i don't know why, but that's the way it seems to them. more often than not, Shrink does a perfect job :-)

Auslander,

On a movie that is compress very little or a small amount, I agree i am going to use shrink its easier. You can do the quality settings so you have shrink do 2 passes for better video quality on compressed dvd's. However, if you have a movie that is compressed by like 50 percent... you need to do a few passes and rebuilder will do it

meh, i've always been able to do stuff so that i never needed to compress lower than 60 or 65 percent, which works for me :-) a deep analysis usually gives me quality enough for my itty bitty tv and my gf's bigscreen! XD

and i am proud to say i've never needed to do any of that extra stuff in Shrink. Nor do i want to. Granted i don't own a screen the size of a Cinema screen but i do have good eyesight :)

I love my dvd xcopy software. I find it easier than shrink & it does almost everything I ask of it. It had probs with RE Apocalypse, but decrypter sorted that out, with x-copy to burn with.

I have to totally disagree with that.

"Just much harder to use."

Which - shrink or x-copy?

X-copy is - open prog, hit start, asks if you want to burn automatically. 2 or 3 clicks & 40 or so mins later a dvd! How is that hard?

Shrink is pretty much the same.

I usually go for movie only, usually no compression. Even when I use compression, the quality, IMHO, is perfectly OK.

Each to their own, without ill-informed speak!

i think i'm one of Shrink's biggest fans, though it's in it's basic form, i just don't feel the need for 2 passes blah blah blah AEC etc. Not for one moment knocking anyone else that likes that stuff, i just have about a 1000 movies done in basic mode that are simply gorjus :)

one thing i've never had to do is two or more passes. i often cut out menus and extras, and sometimes i go in and snip off the credits and intro to the movie, and about a dozen times i've done deep analysis. but i have about 50 backups, and they all work/look great. makes me happy! :-)
