I am trying to back up million dollar baby it worked using shrink an nero or so I thou Im using a lite on 812S flashed to 832 an verbatim media buninng at 4X. So I go to watch my back up an its ok till about 1 hour into it then it the frames keep freezing an I cant even finsh watching the movie I tryed to skip thru an it wont let me. This happened before an I upgraded firmware which helped for awhile.is there new firmware then would help? Im pretty sure the the last firmware I used was 832S.CG5G my pc info is below..Thanks
I haven't tried this particular movie but I do have a Lite-on 832S burner myself. I also use Verbatim discs and I also burn at 4x. The latest firmware I've found for 832S is VSOG. Since yours is a flashed 832, I don't know if that firmware would apply. Instead of Nero I use DVD Decrypter and Shrink. The last time I had a movie do this, it would play for a while and then start to pause, skip, and eventually freeze and stop playing altogether. In that case it was just a bad disc. The only bad Verbatim I've had out of almost 200. There was a visible ring less than a centimeter past the hub. I burned the movie again the exact same way and it turned out fine. Don't know if this helps but it's a thought.
Well it would do the samething when it was a 812s after it was about 1 year of me using it I would say 1 in 8 would freeze then flashing it to a 832 really helped for awhile this is the first one that has froze up since i flashed to 832 does anyone know if that upgraded firmware will work?
In Shrink select 'edit', 'preferences' tab and select 'custom' with the size you want (4300. 4330. 4400, etc.). This helps by keeping the burn from the very outer edge where media is more likely to be defective, damaged, etc. If your problems happen only near the end of the movie doing this and burning slower (2X) should prevent them. Use good media (TY, Verbatim Datalife Plus).
Since you see problems only 1 hour into movie the custom size mod does not seem like it would help this particular case.
I would have to seriously agree w/ the comment of try using really good media such as the Taiyo Yudens or Verbatim Datalife Plus DVD-Rs (burnt at x4 speed).
Guaranteed a flawless burn , if the file(s) are not corrupt/damaged in anyway ... from my experience :-)
