Hi,

I was wondering ...how I can convert a VCD into a DVD?

I am reading all kind of things like MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 ...but VCD has .DAT files wich can be played in Windows Media player ...

But I don't know how to convert the VCD into a DVD...

Thanks,

.Dat files are simply Mpeg-1 files....

The best way to Put VCD files on to DVD is to simply use a program Called "MediaChance DVDLab Pro" to Put the Mpeg-1/Dat file onto DVD...

It will let you put the File on to DVD withouyt re-encodeing the File so there is no Loss in Quality and no Increase in File size so you can Fit up to 4 Full VCD Movies on a Single DVD-R doing it this Way....

All that Has to Be Changed to Put VCD Files on to DVD is the Audio in the VCD File has to be Resampled from 44100HZ to 48000hz which DVDLab will Do for you and it will let you add your Chapters and Menu"s Just Like a Retail DVD....

There is a Guide in the Guides section on how to do this useing DVDLab so go take a Look and Give it a Try.....Cheers

Hi,

Thanks for your answer....

Does this mean that I can play the .DAT movies in a normal DVD player that does NOT support VCD?

Thanks,

Yes if you author the VCD files to DVD this way they will play on your DVD player because the files will be 100% DVD Compliant...

The VCD Video Format and the SIF/CIF DVD format are allmost exactly the same accept that the audio in VCD"s is 44100HZ and the Audio in DVD"s use 48000hz but DVDLab will resample the audio so it is DVD Compliant so the DVD it creates from your VCD Files will be 100% DVD Compliant.....

Cheers
