How do you do this?

The reason I ask is because it is possible to fit many KVCD mpegs onto one DVD-R as a data disk. However I have yet to come across a software appilication that allows you to do this.

It must be possible because you are able to download movies in this format which have been converted from Xvid to KVCD mpeg.

Hi, i also have been trying to figure this out, you need to use TMPGEnc to convert with, but you need the Kvcd template. you can download this and also get instruction on what to do ect. from WeetHet web site.

I have installed templates but have not actually tried using it yet so can't tell you if it works.

hope this helps.

hi

just out of curiosity does kvcd come out bigger than AVI ???

and do you want these to play or just for storage?

Nothing here to see, move along folks.

Hi Rotary,

I also have some small AVI files i have made myself which i would like to put onto disc and play on my DVD player but converting them to VCD would make them quite large so in KVCD i can fit more onto the one disc.

Also whilst XviD and other AVI files are qiute small when converting to VCD it makes the MPEG files quite larger so movies ect would have to be split over 2 discs in VCD format, by putting them in KVCD it should be small enough to fit on 1 disc.

kvcds usually come at around 450-860 meg depending how much you wanna squeeze on and what quality you want. mine have allways been good at around 800meg using skvcds.

you probably got the right twmplates m8, what you do is follow, the guides a syou would normally to encode. but at the last box you uncheck the encode immediately box, then you check the system audio/video option and you WILL get both encoded. Theres a detailed guide here m8
http://www.weethet.nl/english/video_kvcd_intro.php should help you out. if you still think you got the wrong templated let me know and ill email you them.

Whassup..
I just downloaded TMPGEnc and the kvcd template, but the program converted my widescreen DivX file into full screen. It also screwed up the audio and video, so it is not aligned. Does anyone know how to convert in widescreen and how to fix my audio alignment?
-thankyou

Hi Manc123

I Think yur right and i do have the right templates but i still cannot get sound, i have followed the instructions but still the same problem, i even tried converting my file from XviD to DivX but TMPEG would not even recognise the DivX file, i read on on the Weethet web page that the Kvcd conversion can have problems if the sound file is in AC3 codec, could this be my problem ?.

I have since tried the process with another XviD file but TMPEG would only let me put in a video file, whin i tried to put in an audio file it just kept comeing up " cannot recongnise audio " or something simmilar.
So unfortunatly i'm not having much luck. but thanks fo the offer of the templates anyway.

If you are trying to encode a high quality divx/xvid to kvcd check the audio first to see if it is AC3, if it is there is a detailed explanation on weethets page to encode the audio first, then your gonna have to remux, the audio and video.or if you feel adventurous, use diko (google search) to encode, i prefer it as it uses lss resources and is quicker.will allso let you put in two files join them together and encode at the same time. or theres the k-encoder again google search but you will have to get it off kwags kvcd.net, $5 fee but its for life.

thanx man...
I separated the video and audio..and then used ulead videostudio 9 to match both together and then combined them back together. However, i still cant get my videos to play back on widescreen. They do on windows media player...but not on my tv.

Thanks for everyones help, i seem to be getting to grips with it now, just one more question though.
I thought i understood that Kvcd files were smaller files than normal VCD files but when i was playing around with TMPGEnc i converted a DivX movie to VCD and then to KVCD and both files came out approx the same size, is this likely to be me not converting correctly or is there not that much difference between VCD & Kvcd.

Hi calluis, what size was your DivX file before you converted it? to get a (s)kvcd with good quality it needs to be around 800meg otherwise you will end up with a blocky picture.

My DivX file was about 450meg and coverted the VCD was approx 850meg and the Kvcd was approx 840meg, i thought the Kvcd file would come out smaller than that, the quality by the way was quite good, obviously not Dvd standard but was not perticually blocky either.

WHASSUP AGAIN....
As i have been downloading kvcds and ceating my own, i have repeatedly witnessed randomly occuring glitches, in which countless squares occupy the screen and the sound begins to freeze. These glitches happen in clusters during the entire movie. I was wandering if anyone else has these sort of problems and knows a method of fixing it.
THANKYOU

whasssup again...i just want to thank u people for all ur help..because of u guys i finally got the hang of this kvcd shizz. However, i got one more favor to ask. U see, i figured out how to make my movies widescreen. All I have to do is set the size of the mpeg to that of the AVI. In this particlular case, i changed the size of the movie to 640 * 272. The quality of the output is great, but it reoccurently freezes throughout the movie. Just minor freezes, less than a second and no pixalation, but it really gets annoying. I was wonderin if any of u have the same problem and know how to fix it
thankyou

RUVARD are you running any other progs apps when your encoding?? encoding eats up sys resources, so make sure you have the bare minimum running, allso burn at a slow speed, i allwas burn at4x i know its slower but i never get pix probs, hope that helps.

Ive pretty much understood everything I need to make the kvcd but there doesnt seem to be much compression at all. I'm using the 120min template and I encoded a 1hour 15min file and it came out about 860mb. How does that work out since its not 120mins long anyway shouldnt it be like 600mb???

So I tried again with I think it was the lower bitrate one and it came out only 2mb smaller. What could i be doing wrong???

please help because I cant spend all day encoding, my pc is slow
