i just installed flip lid on my v10 ps2, i loaded swap magic and was making alot of noise, so i loosed the screws in the white cap, put it back on and then swap magic wouldnt boot, disc read error, tested 6 original discs aswell, gave me disc read error aswell.

can someone explain this to me...

dont know if laser is dead or out of alignment.

try moving the laser up (so its closer to the disc), if this doesn't work your looking at getting a new laser.

tried fiddling with the laser and stuff, once i got it too read a cd disc, in the end i just bought a new ps2 slimline one...
