2 days ago i needed some dvds and the only place open was wal mart. so i went in and looked around and the only dvds they had were memorex and a no name brand (i guess alot of people are buying blank dvds these days). i normally get the sonys but they were out. so reluctantly i grabbed the memorex and prayed. when i got home and checked them they were ritek g05. did i just get lucky or did memorex see the error in its ways and is trying to do better?
Yep, you got lucky on those ritek's from memorex.Memorex does throw in a lot of cmags on their media,so you want to be careful when you buy them again. Changing to different quantity/format/or even different places can change that mfg ID.They have a few manufactures that are good,but the majority are produced by c-magnetics corp.
I just got lucky today. Catfreak posted Office Depot has the 100 pack "office depot" brand 8x media for $28.00. I took a chance and just popped in my first one, Ritek-R03- sweet!
They had the +4x 50 pack spindles for $14,but I wasn't sure if they were riteks.
House branded media is very difficult to tell.That's why I tune in to this DVD-R media forum.
I buy the maxell full hub printables at walmart.They also have the regular maxell's,mostly 8x for around $25-$26 for 50 packs, if you need them in a hurry.I never pay over $20 for these spindles,when they are on sale.
They do mix up their maxell's-taiwan and japan. I look at the upc code on the shrink wrapper and get the ones made in Japan. Staples usually have a sale on those maxells and sony.I just take the ad across the street to walmart to get the price match.Staple's may have the taiwanese max's and sony,so I fish around for the Japanese ones between both stores.For the same price,the japanese ones should be of higher quality.
thats too bad. iused them for along time. i read on ad where people were getting memorex made by cmc. i never ran across them until april 05. thats when i stopped buying them. is the sale at office max still on or was it a close out sale?
They should be on sale through saturday. My closest office depot is about 40 minutes away. They had a slew of them left. Last week,staples had the maxells on sale.I usually keep my eye on the staples/wal-greens/office depot/circuit city/and best buy sale ads.They all start their sales on Sunday.
