Ive over bitrated my DVD and I need it back - HELP

Wot a mess of tangledyness ive gotten into.
OK....I edited my project in Premiere Pro
Exported it to encore at 9mbps CBR (i know I know)
Authored the DVD then, having burned a few successfully, happy with the results, I deleted the premiere project and the avi files !!! (i know I know I know)

Then I discovered that some of yer crappier $10.99 set top DVD players cant handle a 9mbps bitrate.
I need to burn 50 of these by friday.
so...
How can I rip the DVD back to an AVI format (or some other with no appreciable quality loss), re encode at something less intense (say 7 mbps VBR?) and re author my project?

PLease please, for the love of god, somebody out there, you must have the answer.....help

maybe TMPGEnc or DVD Lab Pro.

I never knew that certain DVD players can't handle higher bitrates.
