i have recently just started this process of backing up dvds into dvd-r and i was curious to know if their is anyway of getting in trouble. If maybe some dvds had encoding that had a like cookie to alert someone the encrypting has been broken or the video has been copied, like in general or is it totally safe from getting in trouble using dvd shrink and not posting the files or movie anywhere on the internet or in a p2p program

nothing can be put on the original disc that alerts anyone that it has been ripped.

The only thing they can catch you at are... downloading movies from kaaza or a simular site...Don't do it
