Saving PSX game with Matrix Inifnity mod

I have a matrix infinity mod in my PS2 it boots all my psone back ups but when i try to save the games it says memory card not found. Could I have not soldered correctly somewhere to prevent it from finding my memory cards or do I need a PS1 memory card when I play PS1 backups on my PS2? Please let me know which point needs to be resoldered or if I need a ps1 memory card.

You need a ps1 memcard, because those games don't recognise the newer ps2 cards
