I recently shrinked a dvd with region code 2 with dvdshrink, once I burned the dvd I tried to play this in my region free standalone dvd player (sony dv4000d) and I would get the following error:
"playback prohibited for region code" , if I turn the dvd player off and then on with the remote controle the dvd would play but in black and white and the screen is also moving up and down. As I understand dvdshrink has a region decrypter built in but somehow this didn't work.
Sounds like you are trying to playback a PAL DVD on a NTSC player. From the glossary;
NTSC
Color TV standard developed in the U.S. in 1953 by National Television System Committee. NTSC is used in United States, Canada, Japan, in most of the American continent countries and in various Asian countries. Rest of the world uses either some variety of PAL or SECAM standards.
I think I recall a thread on this subject recently, I will try to find. It may have been on another forum.

kringles is most likely right on this. The region code isn't the problem , its trying to play the PAL video format (usually region 2) on a NTSC video format system. You end up getting playback that rolls and ends up in black and white. It can be converted with something like Nero Vision Express but takes some time.
