One other note you have your burn speed set to max.. Slow it down to at least x4 maybe even x2 until you get it working atleast :-)

@bbmayo
In the Device Manager under USB there are the 4 ports (as I said). They are:
USB Mass Storage Device (My DVD Burner)
USB Printing Support (My printer)
USB Root Hub
USB Root Hub

Nothing about enhanced or anything.
Also, I do not know what type of motherboard I have, but I'm sure you'll tell me how to find that information out.

That drive is a rebadged lite-on SOHW-1673S which is capable of booktyping +r/rw media to dvd-rom (most compatable format for stand-alone dvd players). Something to consider down the road.
I don't understand what you mean by that (I thought it was auto-formatted to booktype as DVD-ROM...unless you're telling me to buy DVD-ROM disk)

@bbmayo

are you only trying this one image? It looks like there is a problem with the ISO it may be bad or corrupt?
Yes and no. I am trying this one image right now with the various disks, but I have re-formatted it a few times, all of which ended in a 14% error.

I will also slow it down, though the disks I use are all 4X max, so with the previous burns that shouldn't have been a factor.

It might be. I'm not familiar with that particular drive. Either way it IS capable. Bitsetting (booktyping to dvd-rom) ony works on +r/rw media.

Also waht I was referring to is the image file you are attempting to copy might be bad can't you try another image file?

Yeah, as I said in the very first post, I have successfully written other [smaller] files using DVD Decryptor, but with this [and maybe other large files] DVD Decrypto fails at 14% every time.

Oddly enough, in Nero, it does not fail at 14%, it fails at 20, 30, and 40%. What I want to know is, is there a way around this. Would combining the two seperate CDs (files) help to eliminate any potential errors in the files?

hi

well lots of help coming in now, hehe

ok this is odd? you can burn movies ok with htis drive but now its started not to? i would just try a few basic steps as you say your computer is a bit dated (but no reason why it shouldnt work!!!) but may be getting bogged down abit??

i would uninstall dvd decrypter then defragment your hard drive, (makes it more efficient / faster) then after install dvd decrpter again

the dye type i think is ok but not sure? any here know this dye? (Disc ID: RICOHJPN-R00-01) is any good??

dvd decrpter can booktype useing a lite-on (not sure with rebadged setup though it will reconize it?) set it as picture...

(BOOKTYPE WILL MAKE A +R DISC ACT LIKE A DVDROM like -R)

it got to be some thing simple ish? as everything did work ok?

Nothing here to see, move along folks.

Your mother board is a ASUS P4B266-LA and here is where you can get the USB drivers for it http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us in the drop down boxes select "Motherboard" then select "socket478" then select "P4B266" Then select the driver tab at top the driver you would need is the one listed at the very bottom of the page

I believe by reading the specs on your drive that you need to have USB 2 or IEEE 1394 (Fire wire) SO you see your not going to have much luck until you hook the drive up properly either by fire wire or get your drivers loaded properly or you could get a PCI USB 2 adapter card you can get the PCI card for under 10$ here is an example of one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16815153001

cheers :-)

Sorry for the delayed post, my computer was (and still is) going on the fritz after a brief lightning storm. This is (obviously) another computer, which doesn't have the burner, so I'll have to wait on the actual test results.

But 2 questions:

1) Would hooking it up via the firewire port be better than just the normal (USB 1.1) port it is in now?

2) @ Rotary: which one of the setting do I select when changing the booktype? Do I do "Next Write", "Current Media", etc.?

hi

not sure on firewire v usb 1:1 ? i would shoot for firewire!

not sure mate? i would guess at current media? maybe it means that certain dye will always be done? as dvd decrypter reads dye info!

or even drive so every disc you pop in it will do even if its sony / ritek etc...

after a burn use dvdinfo pro to check the booktype or use dvd indentifier
-----------------

note - i click booktype and it tells me nO WAY so if it doesnt tell you an error you are half way home! my drive doesnt booktype

Well, I have good news and bad news.

The good news is, my computer is back up and running. The bad news is, it started to work once I unplugged my DVD burner!

Okay, but I think this is probably just an overload thing as I now have backed up all my files and have 30 Gigs (roughly 40% of my harddrive) left. This file is the ONLY one not burning. I have burned files before and after trying to burn this one, but this one just doesn't want to go. It is probably corrupt.

Is there any way to stop this corruption without getting rid of the file itself? Would combining the two disks (files) make the error go away, or is there a program that specializes in removing bad decryptions in files?

I will also use the firewire port for now on, as it seems to be the better of the choices I have.

hello re-zips I see you've stirred up quite a meeting of the minds here. well sorry to let you down lol but here is my 2 cent's

the speed is got to come down your current media is 2.4 max (what is your burner, compatable?)use that setting this max setting is just going to lead to throwing more media away.

also

E 18:57:10 Failed to Write Sectors 195424 - 195439 - Invalid Address For Write
this just leads me to think your media is bad or defective the other thing is that the connection to the drive will not allow proper transferrance I know that is just leading us back in a circle but definately try the media thing maxell's -r are of good quality on a budget and can be found @ your local wally world(ritek-G05's) good luck!!

I will definately change the speed from Max down to the disk speed, but I thought the program already does that (it says 'now writing at 2.4x')

Well I just changed my media to Verbatim +Rs (they didnt have -Rs) and as I stated I will connect via the firewire port now.

What I still would like to know is, could my file be corrupt?, and if so, how do I change this?

@re-zips this is a program that came highly recommended to me being that if there was corrupted data that could be fixed this will fix it have'nt the need to use it yet knock on wood but I've messed w/ some of the options and it seemed quite useful any way's give it a go round and tell me if it helps did I mention that it is free!

as I've never gotten the chance to use it I'm interested to hear how it does good luck

I just used the AVI error check thing and it said no errors? Should I just re-use DivxtoDVD again with the same files and try to burn using the better DVD-Rs, or should I do something else?

I dunno if this is any consolation or not, but when I put the files into DivX to DVD it says "War of the Worlds Disk 1 .AVI so yeah, it IS AVI. Would that have an effect with programs and whatnot?

Okay, well, here's the news. I re-did the movie with DivXtoDVD. I used Shrink. I hooked it up with the firewire. I used the Verbatim DVD+R disks. And instead of Decryptor I used Nero. And guess what? It worked!!!!

I can't believe it, it actually worked! Right now I just want to thank each and every one of you who took time out to help me. You have prooved time and time again that you are the best technicians out there, regardless of job. Thank you guys, thank you so much!

Most people didn't like the movie cause of the ending (I won't spoil it) but in reality I thought the ending was perfect, then again, I do know about the book ending. But about the movie, it has the best SFX I've seen, better than EP III or any of the prequals. The acting is also awesome (Tim Robbins continues to amaze me) and it is genuinely scary. The copy I have is DVD-grade and bright (unlike dark transfers). You should see the whole thing.
