For online buying of Taiyo Yuden

http://www.supermediastore.com
http://www.meritline.com
http://www.rima.com

All are very reputable. If you are buying retail then Verbatim, Sony, Fuji, and Maxell are good quality. You can look at the Sunday sales for these. BestBuy, Office Max, Staples and CompUSA are always running sales on these. You can even go to WalMart and find these brands.

arniebear's list is on par with my own...i would recommend the same ones he listed there~ online and locally purchased...

locally, if i may add, try to look for the "made in japan" on the spindle near the bar code, lately, these have been better media by these various manufacturers/companies...the only exception being Verbatim, those will most likely ALL be MADE IN TAIWAN. :) good luck.

Recommended Media:

Taiyo Yuden 4x dvd-r TYGO1/ 8x dvd-r TYGO2/ 8x dvd+r YUDEN000T02/ 16x dvd+r YUDEN000T03
Verbatim 8x dvd+r MCC003
Verbatim dvd+r DL (MKM001)= flawless no compression backups

Yep, I agree with arniebear, Meritline usually has a good deal on TY 4x DVDRs.

i use Sonic discs. they are cheap but perform extremely well. the last batch that i got are actually unbranded Taiyo Yuden discs. they are 4x but burn at 8x and cost $36 for 200 w/ free shipping. worth a try.

here is a direct link to the ones i got:

i PERSONALLY would never buy from shop4tech AGAIN, i have been scammed by FAKE Taiyo Yudens from them...the fake ones i got were not Sonic branded...i dont' even remember what brand they were, but they were DEFINITELY fakes~ :)

i'm known as the TY leader around these parts..if i may ask you KakarotX...what are the numbers around the inner hub of these "so called unbranded TYs" that you got there?

for 4x GENUINE Tys...they will start with GD000xxx (where xxx is 3 numbers that signify the batch of when they were created by the manufacturer)...IF your Sonics do not have this on the inner coding, you TOO got yourself some FAKE TYs...

i too can burn my 4x TYS @8x, but, i rarely do...the chances for errors are much higher over-burning a 4x disc at that speed.

just wanted to let the other people reading this thread know...IF your sonics do not have the coding mentioned above on the inner hub, YOU GOT YOURSELF SOME FAKES...i was scammed before in the past, so i KNOW it's possible...i never buy from shop4tech EVER again..and i tell anyone asking me to stay away from them as well~ :)
