I've got a problem with my PS2. I can't get the tray to stay in...when the tray goes in, the blue LED flashes for a few seconds, you never hear the disc spin, but then it just spits the tray back out. I've been using swap magic on it with the swap card, so the cover of the tray is ripped off. I took off my cover manually to see if something was blocking the tray motor, but I can't tell all that well. I'm out of options, I can't figure it out.

I'm trying to see if I should be contacting Sony if I use a modding device like swap magic and I've taken off the cover of the system. I've never contacted sony before, could anything bad happen (block my serial from online play maybe??), or would the worst case scenario be that they can't help me? Is there another alternative to figuring out what the hell is going on with my system?

Well I believe when you open your cover you will break a seal and from that moment on the garanty of your machine has been expired. If I were you I would give it a try but DO NOT mention you were using swap discs or something like that... perhaps they have just a simple answer.. never know.

did you try taking off the lid of the disc tray to see if you could see anything? Tray actually unscrewing the tray, pulling it out and putting it back in.

I don't even know what I did...but amongst me taking off the lids, messing with the tray, etc, etc, the tray managed to eject and retract properly. Needless to say tonight I also ordered a flip top so that this won't be a problem anymore. Thanks for your help.
