Ive been having trouble with my dvd burning process. I open the dvd with dvd shrink and then backup the file. When I go to burn it I always get an error. I have used several different programs and none of them allow me to burn. I have used DVD decrypter, it always says theres an error. Sun Burner and Roxio Easy DVD Creater both say that i have an incompatible format. I have used all of these programs to burn plenty of dvd's but its not cooperating anymore. Im thinking that there can be a problem with the type of blank disc that i have but they have worked occasionally. Right now I have TDK and Fuji, they have both worked. I usually use memorex but I have been having trouble with that also. Or maybe it can be something with the write speed. Im really getting frustated because I have wasted about 100 DVDs with these unsucessful burns. Please help me. Thanks :)

Your problem could be media. Memerox usually uses poor manufacturers like CMC. TDK has been known to use them also though they do use some better manufacturers. Fuji is usually good if made in Japan.
You can get a pack where some will burn and some won't.
Check the manufacturer on the discs. Here's a link for DVD Indentifier:

Make sure your firmware is up to date. I also won't burn at max speed.
It would also be useful to post a log to see if there are any other problems.

@creaky - LOL

@footballj - Did you update your firmware? What is the model of your drive? A log from shrink or decrypter would also be helpful to help solve your problem.
I wouldn't buy a new drive yet - get this info + what creaky asked.
I'm sure there's someone here that can solve this.

LOL..yes i bought memorex again. The only reason i bought it is because almost all of the dvds that i have burned were on memorex discs and they have worked for me. I went to a website that said they have free firmware updates, i believe it was americal.com. It said that it would e-mail the update to me but i never recieved it. The driver that i have is Toshiba SD-R5372. The firmware revision is TU30. its an external burner that i connect to my laptop. Thanks guys i appreciate the help.

On no not Memerox again! I 2nd creaky's comment.:) Oh well let's see if a firmware update will help. Here's a link for the update:
http://sdd.toshiba.com/main.aspx?Path=818200000022000000010000659...
Again a log from Decrypter or Shrink if your burn with Nero would be most helpfully.
Keep us informed.
