What brand of media are you trying to burn to and what is your burn speed.
Poor quality media, burning too fast or the use of labels can result in playback problems.

hi
philips make dvd recorders for pcs to, i was just clarifying as it wasnt mentioned for pc or standalone recorder...
i think if its seen in the pc before burning and it plays ok on standalone players after recording its either the -VR or +VR format the pc cant recognize from your standalone player, i think VR format needs to be finalised (no more writing to disc allowed or adding more footage) *NeroVISION EXPRESS* i think can work with VR format (cant check i am encoding myself at present) so that only leaves your drive! go the the makers website for you PC drive and get the latest firmware updates loaded to the drive it may have seeing VR format updates...
also check if the drive is capable of reading either type disc in VR - or + format
have you tried all these types:
-R discs
-RW discs
+R discs
+RW discs
??????
as each brings its own issues for drives being able to see it
