After 7.5 hours of searching through posts (373) and writting my own, I came across this guide:

It is very newbie friendly some of the lingo is a little tech savy but comprehendable.

First I advise that all newbies read the guide at least 3 times start to finish and to look up words you don't understand.

Research parts and software you've never seen or heard of see what they do to determine if it what you need to accoplish your goal, so all you need to know is what to do when thing go wrong. The mor you know before you really helps. Some of this stuff if you do it wrong can really damage your system, or maybe ruin a brand new hard drive.
Hopefully this will get you up and running or at least understand what you are doing.
