Up til now I have not had a problem with other problem Sony discs, I Decrypted first then Shinked. During the encoding I get "Out of Memory" and my computer runs real slow. Just burned a non Sony disc yesterday so I know it's all working fine!

Any suggestions?

This movie has both a widescreen and fullscreen version on it, I suggest you use re-author and just pick one and then try Shrink. If this does not work, try the trial version of AnyDVD and CloneDVD and do one title only. This worked for me. Out of Memory errors in Shrink are usually caused by problematic disks with arccos protection on them.

I did reauthor and selected the Widescreen, still no go!

As I stated you can try the AnyDVD and CloneDVD trial combo. Or some people have had luck using the free DVDFab Decrypter which is available at http://www.filepedia.com. Rip to your hard drive and try opening with Shrink.

I downloaded DVDFab and it worked great. I sure wish Shrink would do it, might force me to buy DVDFab for these Sony discs!

Thanks

I used AnyDVD and DvdShrink to backup whole disc. Took like an hour and a half but disc looks great as usual using these two.

that's right, the still great decrypter to HD, shrink to compress, did whole disc and Nero to burn. nice, sweet. no problems.

Nero Recode2 or Shrink using deep analysis and AEC/ fabdecrypter or anydvd running in the background/ IMGBurn to burn/main movie only mode= perfect.

First off use the edit function on the side of your post and edit out your serial number, we don't want anyone to steal it.

Power Callibration errors can be caused by a number of things, so here is obvious for starters.

Recorder: <SONY DVD RW DRU-500A> Version: 2.0h
There is a newer version of firmware for your drive 2.1a

Not exactly the best, try either Verbatim, Sony or Maxell.

Here is some more info on Power Callibration errors.

The DVDFab I down loaded from that Link above said 30day trial. Is there a Free version?

The free version is just the Decrypter not the whole program.

http://www.filepedia.com/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvdfab_decryp...

No matter you got your movie copied and you can try this program for free for a month. It is not a bad program, it reminds me of the old Xcopy for ease of use.

The free program will rip to your hard drive and then you have to use DVD Shrink and whatever other program you use to burn.

just one more suggestion:

Physical memory : 255MB (261616kB)
Free physical memory: 85MB (87100kB)

this is probably pushing it try and free up some memory by shutting down unnecessary apps in your tool/task bar and try make sure any thing that might run in the back ground is shut-down(virus protection) might be time for an upgrade

well i thought i was out of the woods with my problem. This is what i'm getting now.

As of today i switched out my old DVD-RW Sony DRU-500a to a LG GSA-4163B. I'm using the latest ver of DVD-Shrink trying to backup(GuessWho). DVD-Shrink completed it's analysis and finish the process of burning to the correct target: e: HL DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4163B, to a Memorex DVD+R 16x successfully without any reported error. However, when i tried to play the backup copy, the DVD hangs up for long period of time and no data seems to have been recorded, the DVD is blank. I made sure i was able to view the movie from where DVD-Shrink had back it up on HDD and it was fine.

Oh No Memerox!!! That could definitely be your cause. They are probably the worst out there. Pick up some Fuji, Sony (look for made in Japan) or verbatim.
Even though your drive supports 16x - I would not recommend recording at that speed. Imho 8x would be max with quality media.

If you have not already tried it get the 21 day free trial of AnyDVD and CloneDVD2, I know this works I have done the movie twice now using it, but only doing the fullscreen version. I know others have had good luck with DVDFab Decrypter but I had problems with it using Shrink. Shrink on its own will not handle this movie. Or as Outofline did you can download the 30 day free trial version of DVDFabExpress which worked for him.

@ shyster I'm w/ binkie7 the media has got to go memorex that is scraping the barrell imo verbatim data life plus, or some maxell -r's that's the ticket. I personally don't burn past 4x and have basically eliminated all errors as for the memorex have you ever tried skeet shooting lol (every body needs a hobby)

- that's quite old now. And now you've bought a new burner so i'm guessing that your burner is not being detected correctly. post latest section of your Nero log anyway..

OMG did i see Memorex, pls proceed to the 2nd link in my sig, and don't buy any more!

Yes I've certainly made note of what not used. Coincidently I had a verbatim DVD lying around and guess what... I was able to backup (GuessWho) with just using DVD Shrink with no problem. Thanks for the link for the latest Nero version, will be updating that now as well.

thanks again
