Ritek DVD-R
Some people use Memorex DVD+R 8x, works for me. Make sure you burn slow as you can no matter what on any brand. I accidentally burnt at 8x and the game loaded up and froze. Alcohol 120% lets you burn at 1x. Don't be in a hurry when burning disks!!! I back up to Maxell DVD+RW and they work too but I am only doing that until I get HDLoader set up.
Get the Ritek DVD-R, they are the best. Other stuff might work, but your laser will wear out faster and disks wont boot right half the time. There are probably others now but Ritek are known to have the best reflectivity and that means the laser wont have to do second and third passes to get info. That heats up the laser and burns it out fast if you repeatedly use DVDs that aren't as readable. You can get printable ones too and a printer that prints on CDs. I am thinking about doing that since after a while it is hard to find what game I want when flipping through them.

For USB Advance/eXtreme I used a WD400 in a USB2 enclosure. I installed games with the official Windows interface and used USB eXtreme Free Edition to boot them.
For HDLoader I am using WinHIIP to install games onto the WD400 in the USB enclosure. Then I transfer them to a Maxtor 120 DIAMONDMAX PLUS 9 6Y120L0. I boot with Fully Patched HDLoader.
