Having had to restock, bought some of these from my usual supplier, and cant burn any of them.Seem to go bad between 2-3 gig.Every one.Strange cos my tys burn fine,even infinity with a verbatim dye are ok.Its just these.So i bought another spindle from a differant supplier....same story.Using nero 66015,pioneer 109 latest firmware 1.57 (same story with 1.55).Have reinstalled etc but have noticed over the last month or two that theres an awful lot of errors with nero in that i have to use the clean up tool before nearly every burn.Strange that.However,even afer reinstalling defragging etc still the same probs.Just with these discs.Wish id stayed with the 8x.Anyone any idea if there are any known issues with these discs?They are definately genuine discs with mcc03rg20 dye.

hiya pieman. i haven't used the 16x -R yet as i only just bought a 25tub of 16x +R - used/watched half a tub with no problems. i should have bought some -R as you know i'm a -R freak, but i got so many blanks it'll have to keep 'til next payday. or if i feel like a comfort spend :)

I also had a problem with the dash 16x Verbs. Couldn't get over 12x out of them and that was only for a second. The MCC004 are better in my Necs drives and the Taiyo Yuden are great in all my drives but the 16x - they make TYG03 is just so-so. I like the Yuden000-T02-000 Burned at 16x better than the TYG-03.

:) my sentiments exactly, aland... i will stand by my YUDEN000T02 coded 8x DVD+R TYS~ they have performed THE BEST OVERALL out of all of my blanks~ but, in regards to the original poster, i haven't used any of the 16x DVD-R Verbs, but, i HAVE had great success with the DVD+R 16x Verbs just like creaky~ MCC004 coding~ great stuff~ :) i have burned less than 50 for the 16x Verbs DVD+R, but, so far, they scan even slightly higher than my famous TYs~ :) go figure...

Pieman, I have an Iomagic (BTC/LG) DVDRW IDE 1008IM drive and I have used the Verbatim 4X DVD-Rs (MCC01RG20)without any problems. However, after buying a 25pk-spindle of Verbatim 16X DVD-Rs (MCC03RG20) which actually costed less b/c of a sale than the 4Xs, I made 3 coasters (either pixellation occurred on video playback or disc would not play at all; one coaster for initial firmware and 2 coasters made with each of the other 2 firmware upgrades) before upgrading to the most recent firmware version (v0060) for my burner. During the burning of those coasters, the buffer about half-way into the burning process seemed to be struggling to keep full (that is, had buffer underruns); plus, with the other firmware versions, my burner would only burn the 16X DVD-R discs at 2x (and not the maximum of 4x that my drive is capable of); the new firmware update allows my burner to burn the 16X DVD-Rs at 4X. Since my most recent firmware update, I have had perfect burns on the Verbatim 16X DVD-Rs with error scans even better than I get with the Verbatim 4X DVD-Rs. My guess would be your firmware is still the problem (perhaps your latest firmware 1.57 still doesn't cover the Verbatim 16X DVD-Rs). Initially, I had to put my 16X DVD-Rs aside for about a month before Iomagic posted the most recent firmware update for my drive. So based on my personal experience... don't get rid of these discs just yet... don't burn anymore coasters or discs with "an awful lot of errors". Perhaps a new firmware version will address this specific issue with the Verbatim 16X DVD-Rs. I'm finding these to be excellent discs! Can't wait for the next sale on these discs. Lots of luck!

It is not the firmware or the drives, its a problem with the Verbatim 16x-discs. I bought a 10 pack from Staples for 9.99USD to try and they are bad media. Just as was stated above, they fail between 2 and 3 gig. I burned the +16x Verbs no problems. These 16x- Verbs I had a problem with were a little strange. Look at the plactic inner hub, there should be a white Verbatim 16x writing on this plastic hub. This was not present on the 16x-disc but is present on the 16x +. I believe there is a bad batch of dash 16x Verbs out there. My TYG-02 works fine at 12x and even my 8x Verbs burn great at 12x in my Nec and my L.G. These 16x Verbs fail and every other disc is good.

it's a darn shame, Verbatim getting a bad rep now...what is the "verb god" gonna do? :P

well, i stick w/ the DVD+R format in Verbatims, but i guess i should be more precise with my wording now in recommending Verbs...as my sig. states, i use ONLY the MCC003 and just recently the MCC004 coding for my Verbs~ guess i'll stay away from the 16x DVD-R format in BOTH TYS and Verbs now~ my TYG03 (16x TY DVD-R format) are not very reliable either...i RMA'd those back and got a refund~ hmmph~!

@movies

you should be good w/ the 16x DVD+R Verbatims..i have quite a few of those and they are FLAWLESS...the media ID code is MCC004 on them. if 16x on sale, and you are willing to use DVD+R format, you will be far fetched to find anything better at THAT speed, just a heads up~ good luck~

@kivory ...i have tried the + r format in some fuji discs but my dvd player would play the movie but at some point in the movie it would stop or either pause but when i rewind the movie it would go on & play right thru the part it stopped or paused on...go figure so i stick with -r format ..they play all the way thru everytime with no problems so i always get -r in any dvd i buy...

i've had loads of Indian Verbs, and still have a shedload of them, however they're 8x not 16x, and they're top notch. Haven't heard of any 16x Indians

not a reply about -R Verb 16x, but +R. i've joined a thread over at cdfreaks - http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=144378#post1072605. It seems the whole MCC/CMC thing is quite incestuous these days..

If those disks are reading Moser Bauer from India then they are not for me, I have tried there CD's and they stink. I can't believe they make any better quality DVDs. Just my opinion.
