Hi,

I have Windows 2000 Professional and while trying to delete the 'Brilliant Dig' spyware I also deleted HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\. And now I cant open some web pages especially the javascript links. It says 'Error on page'

Also, I cant open Microsoft Word anymore. If i try to do so it says: "the windows installer service could not be accessed. contact your support personnel to verify that the Windows Installer service is properly registered."

When I try to open a word document saved on my C\drive it says: "The file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Folder Options Control Panel."

In addition to these, when I try to update my AVG Anti virus I receive a message like there is a problem with the interface and it fails to update.

And finally some options like start-search-all files and folders and edit-find (on this page) commands do not work.

I wonder whether there are any registry repair programs that can fix this problem. Hope you can help me with this?

Think you will need to do a reinstall of Windows 2000.

Think you have done too much damage by deleting the folder and only a recent backup of your registry would get you out of trouble.

Too late to help now, but for future reference this utility will
make backups of your registry with an easy way to restore them:

It works for Windows NT/2000/2003/XP

If you prepare a boot disc such as BartPE or Ultimate Boot Disc to use with it, then you can bail yourself out of a lot of problems.

Oh yeah, and it's freeware. :)
