Hey all.

Ok first question. I use DVD shrink to copy movies, and usually burn them later using nero.

More often than not, the last 10 mins or so of the movie will be unwatchable. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Or something extra I should be doing?

Second question. I want to make a DVD with a bunch of my favourite movie scenes on it. What would be the best way to go about this?

I use Ulead DVD workshop to put my DVDs together and encode them, and then use DVD shrink to compress them. The main problem with that though is I have no idea how much will actually fit on the DVD. I made a DVD of personal digital footage, Ulead's output file size was 21gbs, yet DVD shrink squashed it down enough to fit it onto a dvd.

So, basically my main questions are: What program should I use to cut scenes into editable format (Ulead does have this feature, but is very unreliable and wont work with copywrited movies), and roughly how much footage can I fit on one DVD?

Thanks for any help guys

as you will read on, many people like DVD Decrypter, DVD Shrink, and Nero (my choice) others use dvd clone and many more.

and as far as the last 10 minutes not working, perhaps your burn setting are too high. lower the number down to a custom level of around 4360mb, as so it wont burn to the very edge of the disk. and by the way, what media are you using?

Im not sure.

It was a pack of 50 discs for $30(AU), so yeah probably some cheap crappy brand. But then, I do have a fair few movies and home discs made that do actually work fine.

I didn't know about the burning to the edge thing, so I will try that. Also, I've been burning at 8x, and I've been reading that burning slower is better, so will also try that.

I'll go check out that thread you linked now, thanks!

media is key here!! suggest you ID your blank media and post it in here so we can see it. try this one

4x burn speed is what most use in here, less of a chance to have errors. even if media says its 16x, burn at a lower speed until you know for sure your drive can run at that speed and not have errors.

hi all

yup i would say media! as said you could try setting the output size smaller in dvd shrink, but i would only use as a quick fix sort of, get/buy good media i use ritek go5 but there are others...

if you have good burns with the same type discs try playing or ripping a copy from say from 5 months ago! cheapo media usually degrades with time and what did play / rip wont properly, after time...

Nothing here to see, move along folks.
