i'd previously noticed on some (infrequent) visits that some people over at cdfreaks are far more complimentary of CMC than us at afterdawn however i'm afraid i don't have enough time to spend on other sites regularly but looks like i'm gonna have to do more digging re my prized Verbs..

:)

seems like a blow to the Verbatim team doesn't it creaky? hehe

i was not aware of this either, but will look into it myself; i am w/ saugmon on this as i ONLY use 8x and 16x DVD+R format for Verbatim myself~ :)

the boys over at cdfreaks seem to have a higher regard to CMC MAG media, hey, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but that will never sway me, regardless of what they say...CMC MAG sucks a** and i personally will never use it again~ that's MY opinion of it.

@ aland..hehehe..i'm basically up to my eyeballs in TY media, with the occasional "bad batch" or "are these genuine" questions headed my way...but, i still stand in the TY camp and am solid as an oak~ :)

Recommended Media:

Did you read the whole thread over there? It seems as though CMC has become MCC. These discs are new. Did you see the picture? I have a feeling that the new 16x will have a new media code. All the Verb happy crew better stock up now because their media is going downhill fast. I for one would not pay Verb prices for CMC made media.

@aland

yes, i read the entire thread...i am well aware of the discrepency of CMC MAG and MCC discs...but, as i stated earlier, i don't have many of the Verbatim DVD-R format, just 1 spindle of 100 i bought retail, so at least for me PERSONALLY, it doesn't apply to me. i ONLY purchase DVD+R format for media...whether it be TY or Verbatim~ and so far i have not had ANY problems w/ my MCC003 or MCC004s (8x DVD+R and 16x DVD+R Verbatim respectively).

after this announcement of Verbatim's new pearl white media, gonna stick w/ my TRUSTY TYS YUDEN000T02 for awhile...glad i stocked up when the going was good~ :)

Those folk over at cd freaks have always regarded cmc mag at a much higher level than us intelligent ppl here. Don't get me wrong I learned a lot about my litey over there but their opinions on media suck. I'm still a verb dvd+r dude and will remain to keep it 1st on my preference list as long as it's made by MCC. If the +r's start being made by cmc mag, well then scoot over kiv cause here I come to your wagon.

Mort

Edited for spelling- believe it or not the word intelligent. Guess that makes me NOT SO intelligent.

INTELLIGENCE is a virtue we have here at AD~ :) always plenty of space here in the TY army~ :) we'll see how this pans out...this is a very good thread to shed some light on these new findings...i remain a dedicated DVD+R guy..in both TY and Verbatim..BUT, in the near future if i EVER get any Verbs that code out as CMC MAG...oh boy, my confidence in Verbs will be shot to he**~ :)

That's a good point Mort81. I am a "Junior Member" over at CDFreaks. I usually read up on hardware/firmware issues over there. They have the thread categories for optical drives nicely formatted. BUT, when it comes to software and media, AD RULES... I usually don't stray too far away from DVD related issues, but I know that the "Freaks" can't touch AD in this regards!!! I share my findings from CDFreaks on drive info here, and I am usually able to give a few words of wisdom about media and the various burning programs gathered from AD there. I am here about 90% of the time, though.

Someone should take a look at how they have their optical drive category is formatted. I think that it would be just as beneficial here as the "new" Nero forum has been. AD is my proclaimed home, but I must continue to expand my knowledge base... Maybe a couple of you Senior Members could pass this recommendation along if you think it would be as beneficial as I think it would...

"pearl white CMC discs" now just have this real nasty sound in my ears..it's like when i hear "memorex" mentioned...i'm sorry, MEMOSUX.

i haven't found any new info regarding these CMC Verbs...but, still looking...much like everyone else, i'll just be careful to STAY AWAY from any "pearl white" labelling on future Verbatims~ :)
