AVI - DVD program [cannot process AVS file]

I am trying to convert a .avi movie with subtitles to a DVD movie with subtitles. I followed the guide below exactly, but then when I try to convert it, I get "cannot process AVS file"

You did install Avisynth, and then restart the computer before trying all this?

Yes, I did install Avisynth and restart the computer before trying it.

It seems to be a problem with the encoder HCENC-

Anybody know what the following means?
